You will see the UTME subject combination needed to apply for the course, O’level requirements for UTME candidates, requirements such A’level, ND, HND, NCE, etc for Direct Entry candidates, as well as other information you require to successfully apply for the course.

JAMB UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Civil Law under the Faculty of Law in the institutions listed above are:

Any three Arts or Social Science subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) EBSU requires Literature in English and either Government, History, CRK or Economics.

(ii) DELSU and ABU require Literature in English and any other Arts or Social Science subjects.

(iii) OOU does not insist on Literature in English.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Civil Law as a UTME candidate, you require: Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Literature in English and Mathematics.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) OOU requires a credit pass in Literature and at least a pass in Mathematics.

(ii) OOU credit pass in Mathematics is not compulsory.

(iii) EBSU requires any other two Arts or Social Science Subject

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Civil Law as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects.

(ii) NCE/ND/First Degree (Second Class Lower).

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) ABU accepts:
a. Two ‘A’ Level/IJMB Passes In English Literature and other two Arts or Social Science subjects.

(ii) UNIMAID requires two ‘A’ levels from Government, Literature in English and Religious Studies.

(iii) UNIZIK accepts NCE/Degree Certificate plus UTME requirements.

(iv) UNICAL –
(a) does not accept any Diploma/NCE.
(b) accepts Two ‘A’ level passes in Arts or Social Science subjects in one sitting.
(c) accepts first Degree (second class lower) in Arts or Social Science

(v) ABSU accepts ND, ACIS, ACA 1st Degree (2nd class lower).

(vi) DELSU requires ‘A’ level English in Literature in English.

(vii) UNIZIK accepts HND with credits or distinction aggregate from recognised institution and at least five O/L credits which must include Eng. Lang, Mathematics, and/ or any other science subject.

(viii) OOU accepts a Degree in Arts or Social Science not Lower than a Second Class Lower plus the basic UTME requirements.

(ix) OOU accepts First Degree (Second Class Lower)

(x) EBSU accepts NCE, ND or Degree results in Arts or Social Science subjects in addition to O’ level requirements.

(xi) OOU accepts a degree in Arts or Social Science not lower than a Second (2nd) Class plus the basic UTME requirements.

(xii) EBSU accepts HND and ND with a minimum of Upper credit from relevant fields.
