JAMB UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Theatre Arts under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are:

Literature in English and two other relevant subjects..

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) NDU – require another Arts subject plus any Arts or Social Science subject.

(ii) NDU and UI accept any 3 subjects.

(iii) RUN requires any two Arts subjects
and Literature in English.

(iv) UNN requires Literature in English and two subjects from either arts or social sciences.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Theatre Arts as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Arts subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) ABU, BU, PLSU, KSU and UI require 5 ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language, Literature-in-English and other subjects from Arts or Social Science.

(ii) UNIUYO, BSU, IMSU, and UNICAL require credit pass in Literature-in-English.

(iii) UNIZIK accept five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language and Literature-in-English plus any other Arts/Social Science subjects.

(iv) UNIUYO does not require a credit pass in Fine Arts.

(v) UNIPORT requires English Language, Literature in English and any other two Arts or Social Science subjects

(vi) RUN accepts a pass in Mathematics.

(vii) RUN requires five ‘O’ Level credit passes to include English Language, Literature-in-English one other Arts subject and at least a pass in Mathematics.

(viii) NDU requires five ‘O’ level credit passes in English, Literature in English and any other three subjects, two of which must be Arts subjects.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Theatre Arts as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes in Arts, Social Science or Science subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) BU require ‘A’ level pass in Literature in English.

(ii) IMSU – No Direct Entry.

(iii) UNN accepts
(a) ND/NCE either in Theatre Arts or any other relevant subjects or Advanced level certificate in literature.
(b) ND in Mass Communication, Fine and Applied Arts, Electrical/Elect. Engineering, Music,Management and other relevant areas plus UTME requirements.

(iv) UNICAL accepts Diploma in Mass Communication at merit level pass

(v) UNIUYO accepts ND upper credit and HND (lower credit/NCE merit pass in any relevant field plus UTME requirements.

(vi) RUN requires Literature in English and any other Arts subjects.

(vii) UNICAL accepts ND in Mass Communication, business Management, Physics , Chemistry, Statistics from reputable institutions.

(viii) NDU accepts a pass in English Literature at the Advanced level GCE, or at the Principal level in the HSC exams or merit at the NCE, and in at least one other Arts subject, Fine and Industrial Arts or Theatre Arts.
