JAMB UTME Subject Combination

In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Linguistics, Igbo and other African Languages under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are:

Igbo and two subjects from Arts and social Sciences.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(ii) UNN requires Igbo or any other Language and any two other subjects. For Linguistics (Option), requires Literature in English and 2 other subject.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Linguistics, Igbo and other African Languages as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include Igbo, English Language and any other Arts subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNN requires 5 O’ Level credit passes to include English language and one Science subject. Candidates for Linguistics must possess a credit pass in Literature in English while candidates for linguistics and Nigerian Language must possess a credit pass in the Nigerian language to be combined with linguistics.

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Linguistics, Igbo and other African Languages as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: (i) Two ‘A’ level passes in Igbo and one Arts/Social Science subject.

(ii) NCE in Igbo and one Arts subject.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UNN acceptsA’ level or NCE (Merit) passes in at least one language and one other subject plus UTME requirement.
