JAMB UTME Subject Combination
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Islamic Studies under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are:
Islamic Religious Studies plus two other Arts subjects.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNILORIN accepts Science/ Social Science subject.
(ii) UI requires Islamic Studies and any other two subjects from Arts, Science or Social Sciences.
O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates
To apply for Islamic Studies as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Islamic Religious Studies or Arabic and any three relevant subjects.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UI five ‘O’ level subjects at one sitting or 6 ‘O’ level subjects at two sittings to include: English Language, Islamic Studies and any other three or four subjects from Arts or Social Sciences.
(ii) OOU requires two other subjects from Arts.
(iii) AL-HIKMAH requires working knowledge of Arabic.
(iv) KASU may accept Higher Islamic Studies or Senior Islamic Studies Results.
(v) UMYU requires five credit passes at SSCE or equivalent including English Language, Islamic Studies and three other relevant Arts/Social Science courses with a pass in Mathematics. Also accepts Higher Islamic Studies or Senior Islamic Studies results.
(vi) KWASU requires five O’ Level Credit passes to include English, Islamic Studies and any other two Arts subjects.
(vii) TASU accepts Arabic in lieu of Islamic Studies.
Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates
To apply for Islamic Studies as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes to include Islamic Studies.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) SSU and UI accept NCE with merits in I.R.K. and other Arts or Social Science subject.
(ii) LASU accepts:
(a) At least two Advanced Level passes, including Islamic Studies plus not less than five ‘O’ Level Credit passes at GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent, including English Language at not more than two sittings.
(b) NCE with at least merit passes in Islamic Studies and five (5) credit passes in other relevant subjects including English Language.
(iii) OOU requires the fulfillment of UTME requirements in addition to Direct Entry requirements.
(iv) KWASU -Same as in Arabic.
(v) TASU accepts NCE in Arabic and Islamic Studies.
(vi) UNIABUJA accepts a minimum of 10 points in NCE or Upper credit in National Diploma in addition to ‘O’ Level requirements
