JAMB UTME Subject Combination
In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Hausa under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are:
Hausa, Lit in English and any of Economics, Government, History and Arabic.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) BUK and UDU accept Hausa plus any other two Arts subjects.
(ii) JSU accepts Hausa plus any two Arts and/or Social Science subjects
O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates
To apply for Hausa as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes to include English Language and Hausa.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) BUK requires five O’ Level Credit passes
to include English, Hausa plus three other subjects
(ii) UMYUK requires five O/Level credit passes in SSCE or its equivalent including English Language, Hausa and at least any other three Arts/Social Science subjects with a pass in Mathematics.
(iii) ABU requires Five ‘O’ level credit passes to include English Language Hausa and any three Arts or Social Science subjects.
(iv) KASU accepts English, Hausa and any other subjects from Arts or Social Science as UTME subjects.
Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates
To apply for Hausa as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes in Hausa and any other relevant subjects.
Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks
(i) UNIMAID, BUK and UDU accept NCE with Hausa major.
(ii) UMYUK accepts NCE in Hausa with Upper Credits in addition to five credit O/Level in not more than two sittings.
(iii) ABU accepts:
a. Two ‘A’ level/IJMB passes in Hausa and any other relevant subjects.
b. NCE with a minimum of C grade in Hausa.
c. General English/Use of English at NCE satisfies’ O’ level English requirement.
