In UTME, note that English Language is mandatory for all courses. The other three subjects required to study Communication and Language Arts under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities in the institutions listed above are:

Any three Arts or Social Science subjects.

O’Level Requirements for UTME Candidates

To apply for Communication and Language Arts as a UTME candidate, you require: Five SSCE credit passes or equivalent including English Language, Lit. in English, Arts/Music depending on the combination.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UI requires 5 ‘O’ Level Credits at one sitting or 6 ‘O’ Level Credits at 2 sittings to include English Language, two Arts to include Lit-in-English and any other three or four subjects from Arts, Social Sciences or Science [Please note that Government and Economics are not Arts subjects].

Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates

To apply for Communication and Language Arts as a Direct Entry candidate, you require: Two ‘A’ level passes or equivalent in Arts or Social Science subjects.

Special Requirements (Waiver) Remarks

(i) UI accepts ND Mass Communication (Upper Credit). Applicant must in addition, have passed Literature in English at ‘O’ level to qualify for Direct Entry Admissions. Accepts alo 2 ‘A’ level passes to include Literature in English and one other Arts or Social Science subject.
